Apartment Review
Expensive, but good place to live for GW students.
Review Date: 5/3/2010 Reviewer: Anonymous
The rent here is ~$1500 for a 500 square foot studio, but that's to be expected for a place like this in the middle of Foggy Bottom. Safety: It's a few blocks away from the Fed, the State Department, and the rest of the GW campus. It's extremely safe, and I had no problems walking around late at night. Parking: There is an underground garage, and as of 2010, it's $20 for a weekend spot. Getting in and out of the garage is a nightmare, but it's safe. Appearance: The place is kept up very well. Maintenance is always working on keeping the place up. Office Staff: Everyone here is extremely helpful. The front desk people are amiable, considerate, and if you have complaints, address them immediately. Maintenance: On-call maintenance that responds within 24 hours. I had various problems over the 2 years I lived here, and they were always resolved quickly. Condition of unit: My studio had hardwood floors and a small kitchenette. The kitchenette was small, but adequate, and met my cooking purposes. The bathroom was all right. The bathroom sink was no good, as the jet-stream, coupled with the shape of the sink, meant that water always went everywhere. Noise level: This is essentially a GW dorm, and it sounds like one. GW students are party animals that will keep you up all night on weekends. During the week, they're better behaved. Overall: If you're a GW student and Daddy's paying the rent, this is a great place to live. It has a small gym, is a ~20 minute walk from the Metro, and is close enough to the campus. I was satisfied in nearly all respects. |
