Apartment Review for The Latrobe - Washington, DC

I have lived at the Latrobe for over a year- NEVER EVER MOVE HERE. I am a young professional, not some crazy weirdo, who was willing to pay $$$ for a place that got poor reviews. Please don't make the same mistake. They are shady and lie constantly. Our AC unit exploded and flooded our apartment, we lived in 95 degree heat and humidity for 4 days. The parking is $250, maybe, if you haggle, because this inconsistent place rents everything for a different amount AND the garage is awful, half the spots you can't even get into. The place looks nice on the outside but the rooms are microscopic and the fake wood floor will come up when the pipes leak (which they do). The water tastes awful and the fridge is a piece of crap. Speaking of a piece of crap- the washer/dryer doesn't dry so get used to using machines that ONLY TAKE QUARTERS. The office staff (except Frank the sometimes-there doorman and Usman) is COMPLETELY unfriendly, unhelpful and lie through their teeth concerning statements (which sometimes come, sometimes don't), policy around late fees (5% on the entire rent- not the remaining balance, which varies every month so you really need the statement) and maintenance. Noise level is not too bad.. unless you're next to noisy staffers, hellish summer interns or anyone who plays outside of their earphones. The gym: TVs don't work, machines don't work. You're going to join Vida. Overall- this apartment is awful, they treat you terribly and the payment to get out of your lease is 4x your rent so forget that. Aimco should be ashamed and you should look elsewhere. DO NOT RENT HERE.
