Apartment Review for Onyx On First - Washington, DC

Well, I have to say that the Management and Leasing Office needs better training. When my husband and I were expected to move in we were expecting a clean apartment. When we toured it on our visit we were assured it would be in immaculate condition, such was not the case. It looked exactly like it did the day we toured it! Then we had to wait for our belongings to be delivered by the moving company and when they arrived, the assistant manager actually yelled at my husband because he didnt schedule our belongings being delivered. Now, my husband works for the government and that is who set up our move so we did not know exactly what day and time the movers were coming and to actually yell at your tenants is uncalled for. Well this gets even better..We were told upfront that we would get 3 months free rent, even wrote it down on the paper they give you with all of the fees, etc listed that it would be due in October..well we get a letter and a call from them as to why we had not paid our rent for July and August! We explained to them exactly what we were told and showed them the paper. And they said they did not say that and that it was prorated. Not a single time in the leasing process did they mention anything being prorated or we wouldnt have moved there because if that were the case we had a better offer from another property. Then they call us back and offer to forget about July and August rent and just start with September rent in an amouth that is higher than what we were told, as if we are stupid and didnt realize they just spread July and August out over the length of the lease! Come on admit you screwed up and stand by your word. I would not recommend this place to anyone and now we are going to have to go to court because Onyx will not stand by their word.
