6 months to go...counting down until my lease is
Review Date: 11/11/2008 Reviewer: Anonymous
My boyfriend and I moved to Fort Totten Station about 6 months ago. We love being so close to the metro and the price is reasonable for the size of the apartment. That is where the positives end. We moved in on a hot Summer day to find that our air conditioning unit was broken. After moving furniture and boxes to the 3rd floor and carrying all of our belongings down the longest hallway I've ever seen, we had to spend two days of 90+ weather with no air. We wake up almost nightly to the sound of cars honking outside and music playing loudly. There is another building in this complex directly across from ours, and there appears to be some kind of adult physical/mental care facility being run out of one of the ground floor apartments. Multiple cars are parked right outside of the unit during all hours of the day and night, car doors are slammed, horns are honked repeatedly, music blares in the middle of the night, and no one associated with this particular apartment seems to be at all concerned for the inconvenience they are causing everyone within a mile radius. Several months after we moved in, a little mouse decided to make our home it's home. Let me start by saying, I am a clean freak. I clean meticulously once a week almost to the point of obsessiveness. There isn't anything in my apartment to attract a mouse, and this apartment complex is less than a year old. By far my biggest issue with this place is the office staff. They are completely unconcerned with anyone living here. Of course, they were nice enough when we came for a visit, and were most helpful up until the day we moved in. Now, if I have to go to the office for anything I cringe at the idea of having to interact with these people. On several occasions, packages have been delivered to my apartment while I wasn't at home. The packages were left in the office, but no note is ever left for me to indicate that the packages arrived. When I go to the office to pick up my packages after just guessing that they might be down there, the office staff is rude and most of them act like its a huge inconvenience to have to retrieve my packages from the closet they keep them in. When I inquired why no note is ever left about my packages arriving, I was told it "wasn't their job". |
