Apartment Review
Was good until it became a medical phys/half way h

I've lived at Fort Totten Station since Dec, and was very excited about living in a brand new property. I didn't experience some of the heating and electrical issues that other renters have, but I heard about the drama. I've been happy with the quiet surroundings, but in the last 2 months things have changed. Really changed. From what I can see and have talked to other residents about the T errace level and first floor have a number of subsidized units with mentally and physically handicapped people. I don't mind that. It's just that the medical staff that looks after them...umm...I don't think they are working too hard. They can be seen smoking outside of the front door, using the exercise room, etc. Not to mention proping the door open in the evening. And they have recently be joined by men from a "rehab" program who live through out the buildings. They too can be see roaming about, talking loud, and I'm sorry...looking kinda shady. In the morning between 7am - 8:30am the front of the middle building (of the 3) looks like a bus stop. There will be 6-10 people out there at a time. It's crazy. Fort Totten Station is not a Luxury apt. They would need more security, more renters, a better desk staff, and less subsidizing. I know everyone needs somewhere to live...but come on! The place is on the way to being section 8. Lot of people are not planning to renew their lease and there are a lot of empty apartments. If you really need a place to stay...it's ok. But for the money (1319+)...you won't get what you paid for.
