The Chaselton has many good qualities, but enough bad ones to make you think twice about moving here. There are rats in the building. Caused by messy tenants, but for the amount of money spent on rent, this should not be allowed. There is a dry cleaner on site, but I'm told they have been asked to leave by management, and I'm unsure if it will be replaced. There is mold in the bathrooms. Management is trying to shift the responsibility to tenants, but the mold is caused by leaking, old pipes. So if you have any breathing related illness, this is a building to skip. Noise is a problem here also. Many residents see nothing wrong in yelling in the hallways at 3:30 in the morning. Parking is just bad, but that is common in all areas of D.C. Storage is a problem, you may need to rent a storage space for your some of your things. They have friendly security here and the maintenance crew is efficient. Windows are poorly insulated as are the front doors. There is only one laundry room for all the tenants, so washing your clothes is an adventure. I have not seen any roaches or other types of insects in my apartment. But the rats in the walls is horrific enough. If you lower your expectations, The Chastelton is okay. |
