Apartment Review for Traymore - Washington, DC

Basically, I love my apartment! I've lived here for 10 years and don't want to move. Sometimes I'm embarrassed by the shabbiness of the building or the halls, but I'm happy once I close my door. (other apartments in the building are not as nice, nor as cheap)

Most of the time things are OK, but I know when there's a problem, it will be a big deal. I'll have to extend a lot of time to get things fixed (sometimes months).

I take the money I save on rent and put it toward travel (or fix things myself) ... and hope there isn't another plumbing problem while I'm out of town!

pro: sunny corner apartment, very cute * great location-Dupont Circle * cheap * nice neighbors * on-site manager tries hard, considering he has no support from the office * Before the door problem (see below), I usually felt safe as there are often police at the 7-11 across the street

con: management co * plan to continuously phone co if you need a repair * they give cheap repairs to problems, but rarely fix the source of the issue. (my bathroom ceiling has collapsed twice from plumbing problems in apartment above me) * washing/dryer machines don't always work (one dryer hasn't worked for months). laundry room is icky * front door hasn't locked correctly for months (have to pull it closed to lock) * don't let Beaver Co work on your apart, quality is bad * best to be in apart when getting work done to make sure there is quality and the mess is cleaned

Good luck with Barac! It's always a risk w/this company, but I like my apartment, so it's been worthwhile for me.
